I would say to change the weather effects from "possible new features" to "definite new features"- brilliant for those who want particular weather to be shown on campaign maps and whatnot. ohmy.gif

But one day (fairly soon if I get my arse into gear) I'll get this hosted on our website for you. Eventually. smile.gif

Two bugs in your new editor I encountered today;

-You can only have one missile silo on the map, probably because it's situated as neutral 'HQ';
-The sea fog tiles in the ruin tileset use plains as their background instead of sea, which just looks... odd.

For the rest, though, I have to say it's an awesome piece of work. smile.gif

oshi- somebody actually used the editor...?!?

you are exactly right about the silo, it was being counted as a neutral HQ, as for the ruin tileset sea fog, i'll need to have a look at that

Thanks for using the editor and for the bug report

You've got backwards compatibility issues.

My first attempt at downloading, extracting, then trying to load an existing map resulted in the editor having no property tiles. I'm about to try again, but as Mex'll tell you when I get him to post in a sec, he's had separate issues from it.

A few maps loaded, a few didn't; smaller maps worked just fine while it was mostly the larger ones which the editor failed too load. Don't know why it happened, but it's the same for each map every time you try it; a map that loads the first time will load all the time, and vice versa.

I think I have it...

Trying to load maps larger than the size the map is beforehand will bring up an error, ie. start the editor and by default it will be 30x20, try to load a map greater than those dimensions and it will crash

Could either of you send me one of the non-working maps, so I can test this further?

I've just re-downloaded, and instead of doing a stupid shortcut on my part, I now have it working once again.

What I did was just shifted the program into my existing folder. In hindsight, of course that won't work, not with the correct images folder.

My bad, but at least Mex's isn't a n00by non-issue like mine :x

I sent you one- it's 30x30, so the problem should pop up if you're right. It does load if I first set the dimensions to 30x30, at any rate.

Looks like I was right, I just checked the code, when I removed the size cap, I changed the resizing code, the map loading code wasn't updated to use the new resizing code though, so it doesn't work properly. I'll upload a fix in ~5-10 minutes.

if you downloaded the editor before this post, replace the .jar file with this one, if you download after this post you should be fine

Johnny boy, I found a little bug for you to fix!

Whenever you right-click on a map you're creating, allowing you to quick-select a different terrain thing, then start filling in and doing whatever, whichever colour properties you have chosen (say for instance red), changes back to neutral.

I've had it happen a dozen times this afternoon, so it's not me being stupid again... It's no biggie, but it's a niggling thing that gives you something to do. XD

And another bug- this one a biggie:

I tried to change the map size to 30x30. It didn't happen, tried a new map, still no change. Tried 25x25, rinse, repeat, nothing.
End process, restart map editor, map area is blank entirely (yet gives co-ordinates in bottom right corner), no File, and the drop down menus won't work so I can't get back in to change the settings to make it work.

End result? Broken program, having to re-download it. =|

EDIT: To elaborate, that happened through File -> Preferences. Map -> Resize works fine.

The first bug has been fixed, and I recently rewrote the preferences code, so the second bug shouldn't happen again... (for anyone else who discovers this bug, deleting the settings file should fix the problem)

Dunno when I'll get around to actually releasing the next version, probably not until I get undo/redo working properly.
